How To Maintenance Raw & Virgin Hair Extensions

Updated: Feb 20, 2023

If you have invested in raw or virgin hair extensions, it's important to take good care of them to ensure they last as long as possible. Properly shampooing, conditioning, detangling, and drying your extensions is key to maintaining their quality and appearance. In this blog post, we'll go over some tips on how to do these things correctly.

Shampooing Your Extensions

  1. Start by brushing or combing your extensions to remove any tangles or knots. This will help to prevent further tangling while you wash your extensions.

  2. Wet your extensions with warm water, being careful not to use hot water as it can damage the hair.

  3. Apply a sulfate-free shampoo to the roots of your extensions and gently massage it in using your fingers. Be careful not to scrub too vigorously, as this can cause tangling and damage.

  4. Rinse your extensions thoroughly with warm water, making sure to remove all of the shampoo.

Conditioning Your Extensions

  1. After shampooing, apply a generous amount of conditioner to the mid-lengths and ends of your extensions.

  2. Use a wide-tooth comb to distribute the conditioner evenly throughout your extensions, starting from the ends and working your way up to the roots.

  3. Let the conditioner sit for 5-10 minutes, or as directed on the label.

  4. Rinse your extensions thoroughly with warm water to remove all of the conditioner.

Detangling Your Extensions

  1. After shampooing and conditioning, gently squeeze the excess water from your extensions using a towel. Do not rub the hair with the towel, as this can cause tangling.

  2. Use a wide-tooth comb or a detangling brush to gently comb through your extensions, starting at the ends and working your way up to the roots.

  3. Be gentle and patient while detangling your extensions, as raw and virgin hair can be more delicate than other types of hair.

Drying Your Extensions

  1. To dry your extensions, gently squeeze out any excess water using a towel.

  2. Allow your extensions to air dry naturally, or use a hair dryer on a low or warm setting.
